5 Things to Remember When Distributing Content on Social Channels
April 7th, 2014 by Lauren Harper - Social Marketing Manager, Oracle Eloqua
As marketers, it is getting harder and harder to engage audiences that have ever-decreasing attention spans – especially in social environments. In the spirit of keeping it brief (marketers beware: it may be slightly more than 140 characters), I wanted to provide a few quick tips for marketers about some key things to keep in mind when distributing content socially:

Social Content Distribution Tip #1 – Speak the language of your followers
Each channel is different- you need to speak the language of your followers. Make sure you’re using CTAs that resonate with your audience on that channel.Social Content Distribution Tip #2 – Don’t be afraid to promote content more than once
You can promote content more than once on your channels, especially Twitter. Odds are not every single one of your followers will see every one of your tweets and posts. However, a good rule of thumb is to make sure to mix up your wording so you’re not just copying and pasting the same tweet over and over again.Social Content Distribution Tip #3 – Track and measure
Use unique URLs for each channel you’re posting content on so that you can track the traffic that each channel brings in. This will also help you determine what content works well on each channel.Social Content Distribution Tip #4 – Listen and RESPOND
Make sure you listen to your customers and followers. Thank the people that share your content, and respond to people who comment on it, whether positive or negative. Saying ‘thank you’ can go a long way. Social media is all about making personal connections with those who take the time to engage with your content.Social Content Distribution Tip #5 – A picture is worth a 1,000 words
Make sure you’re attaching a picture, graphic, infographic, etc. with your content to help make it more engaging on your social channels. People are much more likely to share a photo with their own social channels than they are to share a link.Lauren Harper is the Social Marketing Manager for Oracle Eloqua.
