Clustering and High Availability for WebCenter Content Servers

Clustering and High Availability for WebCenter Content Servers

The Support group for Oracle WebCenter Content fields a lot of calls about "High Availability" and multi-node clustering.  Sadly, most of the calls come from customers who have already tried (and failed) to install a multi-node cluster on their own.  The install/configuration of a High-Availability Cluster is difficult enough, but trying untangle a poorly configured cluster of Content Server nodes is next to impossible.  For this reason, the engineers in support have collaborated with Developers to produce a series of Step-byStep documents that are designed to help you install your own multi-node environment of Content Servers.  While the product documentation was written in a more general sense to describe how a cluster should work and different ways that you might consider setting one up, these notes were written with very specific steps to help guide you through every single step required to install and configure a cluster.
  • If you are trying to build a cluster of Content Server nodes using UCM version 7x up to and including v10, you should open and follow Note 758916.1.
  • If you are trying to build a cluster of Content Server nodes using WebCenter Content Server, URM Records Manager, or IBR Inbound Refinery on a Certified Operation System, you should open and follow Note 1209496.1.
  • If you are trying to build a cluster of Content Server nodes with WebCenter Content Server using WLS Pack/Unpack and Web Tier, you should open and follow Note 1659930.1.
  • If you are trying to build a Content UI Cluster with the ADF UI and WebCenter Content 11.1.1.8, you should open and follow Note 1600248.1.
Above all else, if you have any doubt about which note to follow, or about your environment and the requirements to build and successfully operate a multi-node cluster environment for WebCenter Content (any version), please contact the support group before any attempt is made to install it yourself.  A Support engineer will guide you to the correct note to follow so that you can be successful in making this relatively complex environment much simpler.
