Job Description:
The Open View monitoring role has primary focus on maintaining the availability of the monitoring service for a specific set of accounts or HP OM management servers. This is achieved through the use of business skills such as metrics analysis, quality improvement frameworks, effective feedback and communication, strong engagement with delivery teams and finally a strong commitment to deliver services to the ES organization in line with expectations. The GPS team is responsible to administer and manage the set of HP tools we leverage on our day to day work (OVO, Jet, OVPA, etc) across multiple platforms. It is a challenging position, with the potential to learn about different technologies and interact with most support business units.
Key Responsibilities
• Support HP monitoring and reporting solutions such as Operations Manager, Operations Agent, Performance Agent, Network Node Manager, Performance Manager.
• Fulfill requests related to monitoring or reporting.
• Resolve incidents that compromise the well-being of monitoring and reporting solutions in customers’ environments.
• Cooperate with the health of monitoring and reporting environments in a proactive way.
• Create knowledge documents when required.
• New service implementations as determined by the function lead and GPS management
• Identify and implement routine tasks through shell scripting.
• Participate in on-call rotation.
Qualifications:
• Post-Secondary Education in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience within IT operations, infrastructure services support (systems and network management), operations monitoring and end user
• Support. Preferably must have experience in Network Node Manager 7.5x, OpenView Operations 8x and/or HP Operations Manager 9x.
• Knowledgeable in TCP/IP/SNMP protocols. CCNA certification is a plus.
• Intermediate skills in HP-UX, GNU/Linux, and Windows Server 20xx.
• Knowledgeable in Perl and/or shell scripting.
• Basic concepts of SQL scripting and queries.
• Must have very good English verbal and written communication skills.
• Good understanding of the ITSM/ITIL processes, detailed understanding of the incident management, change management and problem management
• Processes. ITILv3 certifications is a plus.
