Oracle is NOT abandoning MySQL Developers, Sheeri Cabral

Answer to: Link Oracle Abandoning MySQL Developers?, EFYtimes.com, Kalpana Sharma

They've put more developer on MySQL than there ever used to be.

The problem is that Oracle is not an open source company. So their bug tracking isn't open source, and they don't understand that security bugs (once fixed) are best explained in the open. It's not something they're doing on purpose, it's just that MySQL tools (like bug tracking) are being integrated with Oracle ones, which are not open.

The source is open, definitely! And they are better at accepting community contributions than ever. And, they still support versions that MySQL/Sun would not. If anything, Oracle's MySQL is more open source than MySQL or Sun was.....but we take those for granted now.

That "removal of the revision history" is misunderstanding of a recent post by Ronald Bradford:

Oracle did not report at least one bug fix in the revision history, but that doesn't mean they're removing it, nor that they're removing previous histories.

That article is poor journalism.
