We are Thankful for YOU! from all of us at the Oracle ACE Program
As we near the end of 2013, we would like to express our gratitude for your continued dedication and enthusiasm of the Oracle ACE program. Whether you are near or far, an ACE newbie or veteran, DBA or architect, you all play an instrumental role in the program. We acknowledge that our support is paramount to your success as an Oracle ACE or ACE Director, however it's your work and commitment that makes the program whole.
It's our dependence on your time and genorosity that helps us maintain the level of integrity and excellence we strive for in the program. Because of you, we have community, with community, we have a network, with network, we have friends, and with friends, we have people to help us celebrate the joys and get through the tough times life so often presents.
For those of you who are not aware, our friend and fellow Oracle ACE Mike Riley is battling stage III rectal cancer. This not only affects Mike, but his family as well -- emotionally, financially, and physically. Oracle ACE Chet Justice was first to realize the "hell" Mike and his family must be going through so about a month back, Chet did an incredible deed. He raised enough money anonymously within 24 hours and surprised the entire family with a 4 pack of box seats to game 5 of the World Series in St. Louis (where Mike and his family reside). Read the amazing story of genorosity and care here. A truly endearing story that brought tears to our eyes.
The reality is that the excitement numbed the pain only for a night. Over the next several months, Mike will be faced with surgery, chemotherapy, scans, and more surgery. The battle is just beginning and there's a long road ahead for the entire family. A GoFundMe campaign, started by Chet, has been created to help them because let's face it... cancer treatments are expensive and insurance coverage sucks. We invite all of you to visit the Riley family page and make a donation. No amount is too small and all donations are hugely appreciated.
We know this is a busy time of year with the holidays among us, but it also helps us remember 3 of the most important things that matter in life:FAMILY, FRIENDS and HEALTH!
Cheers to you and yours!
~ Vikki Lira and Lillian Buziak
