ORACLE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM NEWS |
Training Now Required for Java Masters and Oracle Solaris System and Security Administrator Certifications
Beginning October 1, 2011, Java Architect, Java Developer, Oracle Solaris System Administrator and Oracle Solaris Security Administrator certification path requirements included a new mandatory course attendance requirement.
Only instructor-led in-Class or instructor-led online courses (includes Live Web Classes – LWC and Live Virtual classes – LVC) from the approved list of Oracle University courses fulfill the training requirement. Self Study CD-ROM (SSCD) and Knowledge Center (including Recorded Web Courses – RWC) courses are excellent study and reference tools but do not meet the course requirement for certification.

Former Sun Certification History Now in CertView
Certification history for Java, Solaris (Cluster), Oracle Solaris (Cluster), MySQL, NetBeans, and OpenOffice.org Certifications is now available in CertView, where you can access your certification history, download logos and verify your certification(s) to a third party.
Begin using CertView in two easy steps:
1. Create an Oracle Single Sign-On (SSO) if you do not already have one.
2. Authorize your CertView account using the following information from your Pearson VUE profile:
- Full Name
- Email Address
- City
- Oracle Testing ID
Note that you have three attempts to authorize your account. After three unsuccessful attempts, your account will be queued for manual review. You will receive confirmation from the review team within three business days. It is thus very important that you enter your information exactly as it is in your Pearson VUE profile so that you can start using CertView immediately.
If you have not yet created your Pearson VUE web account, watch this video on how to create your new Pearson VUE account.
Please note that you will only find certification history in CertView. You will not be able to view your exam history in CertView nor in your account at Pearson VUE. The only exception is if you had taken one exam of a multi-exam path at Prometric and you now need to complete the path by taking the second exam at Pearson VUE. In these cases, your Part I exam will show in CertView. If it does not, please contact suncert_ww@oracle.com for assistance.

Java, Oracle Solaris, MySQL and Other Former Sun Certification Exams Now Being Delivered At Pearson VUE
Java, Oracle Solaris, MySQL, and NetBeans certification exams are now being delivered through test delivery vendor Pearson VUE and are no longer available through Prometric. This consolidates all Oracle Certification exams within the operations of a single testing vendor, allowing us to best streamline our processes and service. Pearson VUE currently offers certification testing in more than 5,000 test centers worldwide, providing excellent service and global testing coverage for these Oracle certification exams.
Candidates can now visit Pearson VUE to find more information, register for an exam or locate a testing center in their area. Note that existing Oracle exam vouchers will continue to be valid as long as they have not expired.

Select Certification Exams Retired November 1
Oracle retired several certification tracks on November 1, 2011. These certification tracks and their associated exams had a low volume of traffic and/or had significantly newer certification paths. Note that for existing certification holders - this did not retire your certification, but rather only suspended the delivery of any further exams; if you currently hold a certification earned by one of these exams, your certificate remains fully valid and is not affected.

Siebel Certification Requirements Change
Requirements for the Siebel 8 Consultant Certified Expert certification changed on June 1, 2011. Previously where 15 days of training was required for certification, fulfilled by taking from one to three instructor-led courses - now a single course fulfills the training requirement. Candidates may select a course from the list of approved courses on the Oracle Certification website.
