Press Release

Oracle included in Leaders quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Warehouse Management Systems, for the fourth time in a row

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Jul 3, 2018

Oracle announced today that it has been positioned in the Leaders quadrant of the 2018 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Warehouse Management Systems. This is the fourth time that Oracle has been named a Leader in this report. Gartner looks at a company’s completeness of vision and ability to execute.

“WMS applications offer capabilities such as receiving, put-away, stock locating, inventory management, cycle counting, task interleaving, wave planning, order allocation, order picking, replenishment, packing, shipping, labor management and automated materials-handling equipment interfaces. These systems incorporate mobile devices along with bar code and, possibly, RFID scanning/sensing to form the transactional foundation of a WMS. This enables efficiencies of directed work activity and the delivery of accurate information in near real time,” the report states.

Regarding Oracle Warehouse Management (WMS) Cloud, Oracle believes that its global expansion and commitment to innovative cloud technology validates its position in the market.

According to Gartner, “While a very mature market, WMS offerings continue to differ in areas like usability, adaptability, intelligence, life cycle costs and ability to support end-to-end logistics process orchestration.”

Oracle WMS Cloud provides a cloud-based inventory and warehouse management service. With innovative product features including emerging technology like IoT and mobile solutions, Oracle WMS Cloud combines the agility and cost efficiency of the cloud, while also harboring warehouse management and fulfillment capabilities.

“Ensuring that our customers are prepared for the changing market with cloud technology, is a key driver for Oracle. We provide a modern SCM platform infused with emerging technology like AI and IoT to help prepare businesses for the future,” said Diego Pantoja-Navajas, vice president of WMS Development for SCM Cloud at Oracle. “Oracle WMS Cloud can be easily integrated with other business applications, enabling seamless, (and inexpensive), upgrades in the cloud. Oracle WMS Cloud also provides a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) layer exposing most WMS fields via REST APIs that allows customers to build custom applications.”
